Hi there!
My name is Garrett and I’m a writer from California (but also Colorado).
I have over a decade of short stories and criticism scattered across the internet, but for a sense of my current work, I recommend “Laying the Burden Down” in Angel Food (2025) or “Indulgences” in The Florida Review (2024).
If you’d like to read my thoughts on other writers, I sit on the masthead as a contributing writer at Chicago Review of Books. Here’s a sense of what I sound like there.
I earned an MFA in fiction writing from the University of Colorado Boulder and a PhD in Creative Writing from the University of Utah, where I held the Jeff Metcalf Humanities in the Community Fellowship and won the Richard Scowcroft Prize for fiction.
These days, I’m teaching creative writing and literature at a community college in the woods. Please reach out if you’d like to see my academic CV.
Literary Representation: Justin Brouckaert at Aevitas Creative Management.
